Rebekah R. Main

The practice of law is not Rebekah Ryan Main’s first profession. She began her professional life in 1987 as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – D, gaining both medical knowledge and patient care experience in diverse and interesting settings. Her passion for medicine, and the “art” of emergency patient care, led her to a teaching position as an EMT skills instructor at a private college in 1995. This position afforded Rebekah the opportunity to continue learning, as well as to teach. Her desire to increase both her skills and her education resulted in additional training in defibrillation and, ultimately, a phlebotomy certification. Ten years of medical training and experience made her legal focus on medical malpractice defense a natural choice.

Although Rebekah planned to continue her paramedic education, she was diverted from this course by starting a family. With a strong desire to focus on her children, Rebekah took time off from her medical profession to raise three daughters. Attending law school in the evening while caring for her children at home, she brought the same passion, curiosity and commitment to the study of law that she held for the medical field. During her last year of law school, Rebekah earned one of only two externship positions, to work with the federal district court in Riverside. There she had the exceptional opportunity to gain valuable experience with federal law, practice and civil procedure, trials, settlement and developed outstanding legal writing skills. Rebekah graduated first in her class at California Southern Law School and took the Bar Exam shortly before her youngest daughter started kindergarten.

Since passing the bar, Rebekah’s practice has focused on medical malpractice defense and litigation. Her training and experience within the medical field has given her an advantage in all aspects of medical malpractice litigation, from working with and deposing expert witnesses, to formulating effective defense strategies. However, her interest in the law does not stop there. She has handled issues involving employment, real property, regulatory law, sales and contracts as well as successfully trying an appeal from a labor board decision. Her passion, curiosity and commitment continue to drive her professional pursuits. She brings this focus and commitment to professional excellence to each matter she addresses, from the most complex legal theory to the subtlety of the “art” of medicine.
