December 2012

W&M become the official law firm of the Ontario Reign Professional Hockey Team and its companion non-profit arm, the Hope Reigns Foundation.

W&M and Yvette Walker, in her capacity as a member of the Upland Community Foundation and a Hope Reigns Board Member, to help raise over $30,000.00 for charity at the annual jersey auction at an Ontario Reign Hockey game.

W&M favorable resolve a potential claim for wrongful termination and constructive termination for client who was discharged from his executive director position without notice or an ability to correct the alleged grounds for premature termination. W&M’s client received a large lump sum and severance package, as compared to the initial offer of a complete walk-away request.

November 2012

W&M win Motion for Summary Judgment for orthopedic spine surgeon accused of improper surgical technique for performances of two separate surgeries over a two year period, wherein plaintiff claimed that the cervical spinal fusion and subsequent impingement release surgeries were below the standard of care, resulted in an infection, and left her with neurological deficits.

W&M obtain dismissal for anesthesiologist with Motion for Summary Judgment pending on a claim that the failure to monitor the patient intra-operatively caused permanent neurological damage

October 2012

Jeff Walker moderates a “State of the Courts” Brown Bag Luncheon with four San Bernardino Superior Court Judges, including the current Presiding Judge Marsha Slough, on the state of the court system in the Inland Empire. The luncheon was sponsored by the Association of California Defense Counsel and the local bar association, was well attended, and was reported by the local news media.

Doug Mann secures dismissal on medical malpractice case at the Mandatory Settlement Conference, just weeks before trial, on a case alleging professional negligence during the performance of a gallbladder surgery resulting in a post-operative leak and sepsis.

Jeff Walker obtains dismissal for client, a drug detoxification program, on the eve of trial on case alleging that improper Phenobarbital injections led to various lower extremity neuropathies.

W&M secures favorable settlement for building owner from a defaulting tenant with 3+ years remaining on the lease after tenant vacated the property. Approximately 80% of the balance owed on the lease was paid.

W&M secures favorable settlement terms for client involved in highly contentious family squabble over allegations of elder abuse, fraud and improper property transfer allegations. Ultimately, client’s out-of-pocket settlement was minimal, as issue was resolved by forcing mortgage lender and financial institution to significantly reduce terms for short sale of the disputed property.
