December 2013

W&M obtain judgments by way of unopposed Motions for Summary Judgment on behalf of an oncologist and infectious disease physician accused of failing to diagnose and/or failing to follow-up on studies symptomatic for a lung lesion eventually diagnosed as lung cancer. 

October/November 2013

W&M are proud sponsors and supporters of the Hope Reigns/Ontario Reign annual golf classic, helping to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House affiliated with the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

Jeff Walker obtains dismissal of claim on the eve of trial for an orthopedic surgeon accused of wrongfully administering a cortisone injection in a patient for elbow neuropathy pain, who alleged to have reported an allergy and not provide consent for the injection.

W&M obtain dismissals for three emergency room physicians accused of malpractice and elder abuse on an elderly male patient treated at multiple facilities for pressure sores and a stroke.  The dismissals were offered by plaintiff’s counsel after Demurrers and Motions to Strike were filed, but not heard by the Court.

August/September 2013

W&M proudly begin working with new medical clients, Mountain View Emergency Physicians Medical Group and their new urgent care facility in Pomona.

W&M become the Official Law Firm of the Ontario Fury, the first professional indoor soccer club in the Inland Empire, at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.

W&M celebrate their 6th Year of business in the local community by hosting its first Open House with clients, members of the local business community, and the local Chambers of Commerce for the cities of Upland, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, of which the firm is a member of all three organizations. 

W&M obtain dismissal of Medical Board complaint filed against an emergency room physician over a claim of an alleged failure to treat a hip fracture in an elderly patient.

June/July 2013

Jeff Walker is invited to the MedMarc Annual Panel Counsel meeting as a panel member in Del Mar, CA.

W&M participate as proud tee sponsors at the San Antonio Community Hospital Golf classic at Red Hill Country Club.

Douglas Mann obtains a 9-3 liability defense verdict on behalf of surgeon accused of improper surgical care for removal of a gallbladder, allegedly resulting in sepsis and an infection.  The pre-trial demand was $250,000.

April/May 2013

W&M are invited on a tour of the future site of the San Antonio Community Hospital Emergency Room and Tower, currently under construction with an anticipated open date of December 2013.

W&M obtain favorable settlement for client involved in automobile accident for the full policy limit of the offending driver.

In a complicated wrongful death medical malpractice case involving a lady with a lengthy history of peptic ulcer disease and fungal gastritis, Jeff Walker obtains a favorable judgment for his client, a gastroenterologist, on a Motion for Summary Judgment.

March 2013

Jeff Walker obtains judgment for distributor on a Motion for Summary Judgment in a highly contentious products liability case involving claims that a medical device caused severe oral burns on a child patient.

W&M obtain favorable settlement for client for less than half of what is allegedly owed on a significant credit card collection case.

Jeff Walker obtains six figure settlement for client injured while walking down stairwell on a tour bus in San Francisco.

W&M settle case for former patient of incarcerated doctor accused of purposely over-prescribing pain killer medications and narcotics. The physician had been incarcerated, lost his license to practice medicine, and had no insurance.

W&M attend the “State of the City of Ontario” presentation, wherein W&M invited its clients and distinguished guests.

W&M obtain judgment for anesthesiologist at the demurrer stage on claims of assault, battery and emotional distress related to alleged injuries consisting of cuts, scrapes, bruises and skin injuries. The case had been previously dismissed without prejudice, and once re-filed, was beyond the applicable statute of limitations. The Court immediately concurred with the procedural defect in plaintiff’s re-filed complaint, and dismissed the case at the Demurrer stage.

Doug Mann obtains a Trademark/Notice of Allowance of a brand name for a prefabricated building manufacturer.

February 2013

W&M assist widow of deceased oncologist in the sale of his practice to a group of investors.

W&M attend the annual Loma Linda University Medical Center Gala at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino to raise funds for the hospital’s pediatric unit. W&M donated its legal services as part of the silent auction to raise funds for Loma Linda and its endeavors.

Jeff Walker assists in settling contractor dispute for water sprinkler installer from engineering company who refused to pay for the subcontractor services.

W&M attend the annual Frances Mary Paul Circle Awards Dinner at San Antonio Community Hospital. W&M are proud members of the Frances Mary Paul Circle and Business Benefactors affiliated with San Antonio Community Hospital. W&M are also proud to become part of the Brick Walk of Fame at the hospital’s new construction site.

W&M are Gold Sponsors for the annual St. Joseph’s Catholic School G.A.L.A to raise funding for the school’s campus security systems.

W&M obtain full child custody for father of son suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome, precluding mother from having any further contact after history of abuse and drug use are revealed.

January 2013

Jeff Walker settles water damage litigation for client for one-third of the damages being claimed pertaining to allowing water runoff to damage a first-floor condominium unit.

Yvette Walker is named to the Hope Reigns Foundation Board of Directors as Secretary.

Jeff Walker is named as a 2013 “Super Lawyer” by the Super Lawyer Magazine for the 5th year in a row.

Jeff Walker obtains judgment on behalf of OB/GYN on an opposed Motion for Summary Judgment wherein plaintiff alleged that surgery resulted in a perforated bowel, causing the patient to become septic and required two subsequent surgeries. W&M convinced the Court that plaintiff’s opposing expert declaration did not adequately state standard of care and causation opinions to defeat the motion. The Court also awarded costs to W&M’s client on a successful cost bill that was challenged.

W&M is successful on Motion for Summary Judgment in hotly contested medical malpractice case for orthopedic surgeon accused of improper plate and screw fixation during emergency trauma surgery for plaintiff, who also required release of pending compartment syndrome. The initial case demand was for the insured’s policy limits.
